Face masks are our latest addition to the Heijne Family

Face masks have been a topic on the agenda for a while, but now the relevance starts to increase. For example, several airlines, including SAS and Lufthansa announced they now require the passengers to wear a mask on board of the airplanes. When you start traveling again, we want you to be able to do it in style. Therefore, let us introduce our face masks!

What is a face mask used for?

Facemasks help limit the spread of germs. When someone talks, coughs, or sneezes they may release tiny drops into the air that can infect others. If someone is ill a face masks can reduce the number of germs that the wearer releases and can protect other people from becoming sick. A face mask also protects the wearer’s nose and mouth from splashes or sprays of body fluids.

What are the features of our face masks?

They have 3 layers:

(1) A luxurious silk layer on the outside

(2) Changeable filter from Spunbond in the middle. You can buy additional 10-packs with filters.

(3) A soft layer of natural silk on the inside, gentle to the skin.

There is a good fitting mask for everyone: We have 2 designs to choose from, each with a different shape suiting different faces. Read the details under SIZING for Face mask de Luxe or Silk face mask rectangular. Another detail which makes the fitting good is the adjustable ear loops. Additionally all masks have a small flexible wire sewn in for better shape over the nose.

Both models come in many different prints and colors, making it almost impossible to not find one you love. Choose between a fun dotted animal print or painted stripes, feminine soft lavender or powder pink. Match your jeans skirt with a mask in denim or go for classic navy or black. Your only problem is which ones to choose!

They are designed to be more sustainable. Because this mask is reusable it’s better for the environment than a disposable mask. Additionally they are sustainably produced in our atelier in Lithuania using our natural silk fabrics and sustainable digital print.

Sustainable Sunglasses by SHADESHARES

We are finally moving to sunny days! A good timing to give a proper introduction to the collection of sustainable sunglasses in wood designed by SHADESHARES. The cool thing with Shadeshares is not only the incredible good looking shades they produce. They also take on a great social responsibility.

I met Veronica from Shadeshares on a fashion fair only a few months ago and fell in love with the sustainable sunglasses and her story behind the company.

So what is the story behind Shadeshares?

The story behind Shadeshares is very inspirational. In 2017 Veronica and her husband decided they wanted to help young people living in the Kenyan slums toward a better future. During these 3 years they have come a long way. Firstly they opened a sunglass workshop, helping people from the slum getting a job. They employ and train currently 20 young adults, teaching them valuable working-life skills. Secondly, 20 % of every pair of sunglasses sold is directly spent on education and employment for young people living in the Kariobangi and Korogocho slums.

The sunglasses are made of sustainable materials and the manufacturing chain is open and transparent. In addition, they started another great initiative last year: for every pair of sunglasses sold, they plant one tree in Oyugis Village in Kenya.

In conclusion, the sunglasses from Shadeshares are not only a cool accessory. Also, they are sustainable and provide a better future for many people. Therefore they are a great choice during the sunny days!

The videos show you how to take your body measurements correctly. The video guide is language accompanied and we recommend turning on the volume.
Let´s start taking your measurements. You need a measurement tape and 5 minutes of your time. Put yourself in front of a mirror, this can help. Wear tight clothes or only underwear for the best result.

To measure your chest, position and pull the tape measure around your body where your chest is as broadest (under your armpits, around your back and back to the front) to get the right measure.

Fold the measurement tape around your natural waist, where it is as smallest, a few cm above your belly bottom. Keep it parallel to the floor. Avoid holding your breath or pulling your stomach.

TIP: If you are unsure, measure 21 cm straight down from the chest. There is your most defined waist according to our measurement system.

Pull the tape around the widest part of your hips. Adjust the tape measure slightly up and down to ensure that it is the widest part. Look in the mirror to assure you keep the tape straight.

Measure from top of shoulder to desired length.

For dresses measure first to your hips, then bend and adjust measurement tape to
get the right length. For asymmetrical dresses measure to the shortest part of the
dress.

For skirt length: Place the tape on your earlier defined waist. Hold the tape on your knee and secure the tape with one hand. Bend forward and measure to the length desired. Measure from your waist (earlier defined) to length desired. For asymmetrical skirts measure to the shortest part of the skirt.

Are you experiencing that the sleeves of your top or dress often too tight around your biceps? We recommend measuring your biceps and adjust the measurement.
Define your biceps by bowing your arm and tensing your muscles. Measure around the widest part of your upper arm.

Measure the exact sleeve length you want. Place the tape on your shoulders and measure to your elbow. Hold the tape on your elbow and let go of the upper part. Then measure the final length from your elbow to the length desired.

Measure the inside of your leg: Place the tape directly under your crotch and measure first to your knee.

Hold the tape on your knee and let go the upper part. Then measure the final length from your knees to the length desired.

Place the measuring tape around your wrist and check the measurement.

Hold your leg straight and place the measuring tape tight around your thigh.
Pay attention that the measuring tape is placed on the largest part of your thigh

Hold your leg straight and place the measuring tape tight around your knee. Pay attention that the measuring tape is placed in the middle of your kneecap.

Place the measuring tape around the fullest part of your calf for the right measurement. Pay attention that the measuring tape is placed straight.
